This message is for the parents of students who are currently registered with Black Gold Home-based School (HBS) in a teacher-directed or shared responsibility program.
This year, HBS has been using a combination of materials and supports from Alberta Distance Learning Centre (ADLC) as well Black Gold Schools. As many of you know, ADLC will cease to exist in its current form this coming fall and we have spent this year getting ready.
Please know that students and families in Black Gold from grades 1 to 9 who want to continue to work in a module-based, self-paced, curriculum program with a teacher this fall will be able to do so.
This is not an online program, although students will be able to access their Black Gold teachers online and/or use the Google drive if that works for them. As was the case with ADLC courses, families will work at their own pace and have access to the complete grade level curriculum in core subject areas with an assigned teacher who supports and marks all assignments. Students will receive a grade at the end of the course. We will continue to offer shared responsibility programming for families who want to take on part of the curriculum or planning themselves.
If you have any questions about what we will be offering, please contact me by email at [email protected] or at 780-999-9678.
We look forward to continuing to work with you through the 2021-22 school year.
Take care and keep well,
